Review of An American Crime (2007) by Kimmie M — 07 Nov 2008
This movie had incredible acting, the setting and atmosphere were overpowering, and it's the kind of movie that really reaches out and grabs you. Once finding out it is based on true events and taken from actual court transcripts it really hits you how disturbing and sad this movie is.
I have never cried watching a movie - this movie made me cry. And I couldn't stop. Even when movies are based on true events, most of the time the writing and acting are so over done and "Hollywood," that I end up feeling detached from the story.
But this movie was so well done, you felt like these were people you know and that you were right there with them. Not only does it speak of the mental and emotional instability of the mom, but the darkness that lies within otherwise "every day normal" people.
Very compelling.
