Review of An American Carol (2008) by Nikolai E — 03 Jan 2009
So David Zucker thinks humor has a liberal bias, and he's here to tip the scales. Guess what? Humor does have a liberal bias. Laughter is a defensive reaction, a product of provocation rather than assurance and reverence, standards of conservative media.
That being said, side from sounding like a paranoid rant from a cantankerous blowhard with as little understanding of the world we live in as the strawmen he's conjured up, the film actually has a few pretty good sight gags.
I could go on about how it's a bit odd to consider college professors as indoctrinators of children and enemies of free thought while army recruiters are altruistic saints, or to say the best thing about America is how many awesome freaking wars it's been in, but I don't have to, because this film is now obsolete.
It was born of a stupid, pointless feud between two factions who agreed on almost everything except a few mostly semantic points, and saw this as a fine reason to slander and assault one another at every opportunity instead of getting anything done.
As of January 20th of this year, this film will be completely unnecessary.
