Review of An American Carol (2008) by Bryan K — 11 Mar 2009
I certainly appreciated the subject matter, the jokes were hilarious, and the film made many excellent points. With that being said... it was pretty awful- the Scrooge theme was a bit akward and felt clumsy.
Granted, stupid humor aka spoofs are not really my cup of tea to begin with and I tend to dislike them, so perhaps I am not the best judge. I felt as though I was watching a very a group of Saturday Night Live style skits of similar theme that were strung together to make a movie.
I laughed out loud a lot, and I LOVE that the movie was making fun of so many people and ideas that so deserve to be made fun of... it was a nice change from the normal conservative bashing fare, but not my first choice in genre.
I will absolutely be buying it on DVD to show my support since it was a balsy political statement to make the film in the first place.
