Review of An American Carol (2008) by Dennisc — 02 Oct 2008
Unlike those who were invited to private screenings (not exactly a subjective bunch), I paid to see this film and it misses more often than it hits. While South Park has managed to bring a conservative spin on broad humor it's never lost sight of the overall hypocracy on both sides of the political aisle and virtually everyone is a target.
This film fails on that count in that there's but a single target (the left) and Zucker seems to have forgotten what satire is. Most on the right will love it, the left will despise it and those with a more subjective view will walk away realizing they what they watched was a political diatribe that's a bit short on laughs.
