Review of Amy (2015) by Jei P — 02 Feb 2016
The sad story about Amy Whinehouse. The young, promising lady with the stunning voice introduces the film with a birthday song. Clips from her private life, sessions and auditions turn into clips taken by the aggressive press as we see Amy turn into something she does not want to be.
Honest film with plenty of Amy's own statements over the clips. Friends, body guards, managers, family - they are all there. Still, you can feel that she is all alone on a path that is bound to end up in tragidy.
She was one of the latest interesting persons on the hit-lists for me. A fantatic voice, more suited for jazz than anything else gives me shivers and it's sad that she could not cope with all the media hassle.
A sad documentary. An important documentary. A great documentary.
8.5 out of 10 initmate stages.
