I'll be honest, outside of her big hit Rehab, I really didn't know anything about Amy Winehouse or her career. So when I saw there was a documentary coming out about her life I got excited. This was a chance to learn about her more in depth.

With that in mind, I must say I really didn't care for this documentary. It all comes down to the format. Instead of sit down interviews about her life they just showed old footage, a lot of it personal never before released stuff. Now that was nice to see, but it didn't have a connection with me the way so many other docs have before. There was almost no personal attachment seen from the people being interviewed. The whole thing came off like watching a kid's school report that he had to do on someone famous. Not what I'd expect from a professional filmmaker.
