Review of Amusement (2008) by Alex M — 31 Jan 2010
Starts out with a couple of genuinely creepy vignettes (the clown in the house urban legend is probably the best section of the movie), but the plot soon spirals out of control, and characters start doing insanely stupid things (Miss psychiatrist is probably the stupidest character of all time, although Health Inspector boyfriend runs a close second).
By the time the end comes around, the plot has nothing left to hang on (so, the villain is a millionaire who owns a gigantic old hotel, and a log cabin atop a huge subterranean prison?), and the villain's motivation ends up being painfully simplistic.
