Review of Amour (2012) by Jamie W — 08 Feb 2013
Hey, if these olds are going to be dead, can I have their apartment?
All kidding aside, this is a haunting, beautiful, thought provoking movie that was not necessarily as unpleasant to watch as I'd feared because of that. The camera lingers lovingly on small moments, the running of dish water, the playing of a cd, the unpacking of groceries. But it skips over some big parts, like some of the steps in Anne's decay. This is most effective.
Also, BIRDS AS A HARBINGER OF DEATH. Thanks to that, I totally got the pigeon symbolism.
