Review of Amour (2012) by Austin J — 09 Mar 2013
Heavy handed and emotionally manipulative. But what really killed it was the typical French cynicism (despite, or perhaps accentuated by, Austrian direction) pervasive throughout that seemed to be pumped into the theater like heavily irradiated gas via the air ducts.
I know it's a hopeless situation, but the film didn't have to feel so plain mean-spirited, almost as if the audience were bullied into liking the characters.
