Review of Amour (2012) by Robert G — 27 Aug 2013

A friend told me Amour was good, it was just equally depressing. I had already bought the movie so I then watched it that night. U have to agree with him completely, the movie is just depressing, if not more so, then the movie is good.

I can see why the movie won so many awards, critics love this kind of thin a love story abut a long time married couple, that also happens to be so depressing. Oh yeah, plus the movie is in French. Amour is a movie critic's wet dream.

However the fact that it is in french scared away many American viewers, except for the art and movie buffs. That is why it also did not win the Big American awards. It is a very good movie. Personally I liked many of the other nominees for Best Picture better and my pick for Best Picture, Argo, even Won.

But if Amour would have won it would have been a legit choice, I would not have agreed with it, but I would not complain. Well, to much anyway.
