Amour is truly a masterpiece. Apart from it being just a fantastic movie, the performances make this movie. Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva give terrific performances, and it's no surprise that they were nominated for Oscars and so many more awards.

And their chemistry together is amazing. They actually seem like a real married couple, it's great when they share screen time together. Michael Haneke wrote and directed the film and he did an outstanding job at both.

He directs with such elegance ad so wonderfully well, it's a shock how he didn't win for best director at the Oscars. He films many scenes without moving the camera and just keeps it focused on the actor or actors on the screen and it just makes uncomfortable seeing the actors just there for a prolonged amount of time without any movement from the camera.

The script is also fantastic. Even though it in French an not in English, don't let that keep you away from seeing this. The script is a deeply saddening look into the lives of an elderly couple when something bad happens.

The dialogue is extremely hard to even listen to, it's so sad. I believe this is truly one of the saddest films I have ever sat through. Seeing two old people who have been married for a long time even in a movie, seeing one of them fall ill and one of them take care of one just really does something to you.

The message of love, family, and responsibility all work and blend so great together. The whole film, though an amazing film, feels like a chore to get through. It's so achingly and terribly sad, it's awful to watch these two people suffer.

Nevertheless, you should definetley see this no matter what, don't think this is an easy watch to get through, because it's not at all. Amour is a fantastic film, worthy of all of the awards it won and was nominated for.

The acting is truly amazing and the chemistry between the two leads works expertly. The writing and directed by the very talented Michael Haneke is deep and achingly sad, it's hard to watch, yet it's amazing and so well made.

Amour is a movie that you shouldn't miss even though it isn't even in English it should not be missed and is highly, highly recommended on every level whatsoever. See this one, don't skip it.
