Review of Amour (2012) by Sam P — 04 Oct 2013
Despite the fact this movie with the beautifully strong performances made me cry, I can see the joy of filmmaking techniques mixed with sadness inside love.
Michael Haneke for sure is the master of mis en scene, for example in the second sequence, the crowd are breaking the 4th wall, and just a man passing and forced the two main character stand up, then you cannot ignore them, also at the same shot, the production design, with the white triangle of the main actress takes your eye toward her. Although long takes of his movie give independent direction to your eyes to discover the frame and details. A gorgeous cinematography by Iranian DOP Darius Khonji and his great use of light for each shot and also each frame has beautiful composition. Casting, it couldn't be better with the two main role that progression of characters couldn't be made by these two strong and powerful actors in performance.this movie portraits the idealistic love which the illness of the one makes the lover crazy, and how sacrifice is the need for existence of this element. The beauty of live and life, makes it harder to let it go.
