Review of Amour (2012) by Ian G — 17 Nov 2013
One of those films that is superbly directed and acted if a hard watch given its European senisbilities and of course the hard subject matter, following a elderly married couple dealing with the increasely declining health for the wife after a series of strokes.
Emmanuelle Riva garnered a load of nominations for a very solid and believable performance as the striken wife perfectly nailing all the ticks and phobias dealing with someone caught up with these very serious life changing issues, and naturally you feel for the husband who is jockeying between mixed emotions seeing the decline of the woman he loves along with having to deal with the various family members circling and chirping with various pieces of unwanted advice.
A tough watch gem that is required watching. And talk about a brutal twist.
