Review of Amour (2012) by Spaceman B — 13 Oct 2014
How to describe Amour? It is difficult viewing experience about the ravages of old age. At times, it is excruciating to watch but the film is redeemed by the protagonists' love for one another. One cannot view Amour without considering the need for the availability of assisted suicide (Anna's character, before suffering a second devastating stroke, expresses the desire to die.
Her husband does not heed her). This film is obviously a difficult one, but it is the sort of cinema to raise collective empathy and that, in my opinion, is the best kind.
