Review of Amour (2012) by Ian F — 14 May 2013
I'm still having trouble putting into words how hard this movie was to sit through. It started out fine and truth be told, Riva hadn't earned her Oscar contender role yet. Then the second stroke hits and the film because the ultimate horror film.
Life is hard. And then you die. This is life. In many ways Trintignant is the stronger of the two but partly because he is the more active of the two. Riva is the spirit of the film and in many ways the audience.
A beautiful look at the truly dark side of life.
