The opening scene alone tells you that this movie is going to be great. This film is based on three interconnecting stories. For sure this is Alejandro González Iñárritu best work. Amores Perros (Love's A Bitch) has three stories all based on one thing "love" and how love hurts. This maybe be gritty, brutal and violent but it's also filled with emotion.

The first story is based on a dog fighter named Octavio. He uses his dog to fight for him to get money. You can say that the dog is his "pride" almost. He then falls in love with his sister in law. This is where he needs the money. He wants the money to run away with her so they can live a better life. After getting his dog Cofi in a fight his dog get hurt badly. He gets in his car while Jarocho is shoot at them while driving. Octavio then goes threw a red light and get in a brutal car crash. This is where the three stories connect.

The next story has to do with a model Valeria. She was the other drive that got hit by Octavio. Valeria just came back from a talk show. When she got hit it turns out that her leg was crushed because of the accident. It had to be removed. So this shows the person that once had it all is left with nothing. Her modeling job was no more.

The last story is about El Chivo. He goes around the city and collecting trash. He was also a hit man at one point. In the film he shot a man in the middle of the day. We also find out that he was once a teacher but he went mad. He has a daughter but he was never really there for her. He leaves a message to his daughter saying how he was never there for her and that his sorry for what he did.

This movie is a perfect example of "There are no random acts; we are all connected." This shows how love is and how it can be used as a weapon to hurt someone.
