Review of Among Friends (2012) by Justin B — 09 Jul 2014

I love Danielle Harris, I had the pleasure of meeting her at weekend of horrors in Germany and she seems like a really nice woman and I like her acting....unfortunately, her directing debut isn't as exciting as I hoped it would be.

don't get me wrong! on a technical level the movie is great! well lit, some good angles and of course the practical effects are AMAZING! I mostly blame screenplay writer/actress Alyssa Lobit with Witchcraft 9 credit for this abomination.

the characters are the most unlikable people I have ever seen in a horror movie and that's even BEFORE we discover there 'little secrets', during the entire running time we only get to see them being complete assholes in over-acting mode or under-acting mode and the only person who's kinda likable is Alyssa Lobit's character Bernadette.

..who's the villain...who we are NOT suppose the sympathize with! oh yeah there is another character who we can feel sympathy for but she doesn't show up until the last 10 minutes of the movie and since we know jack-shit about her character we can't feel any sympathy for her.

one of the most headache inducing scenes in the movie has to be the tripping-balls scene that one of the characters gets, after a view mushrooms and a handful of coke she starts to trip and if your going to watch the movie I suggest you mute the movie untill it's over because the audio just hurts! and since Danielle obviously knows people Lobit got some cameo's in her little project as well! not only does Kane Hodder (friday the 13th 7 thru 10) show up as a limo driver but we also get Michael Biehn (terminator), Xavier Gens (hitman) and Danielle Herself in a clown costume which is pretty much a punch in the face so hard with it's reference that it will break your nose, which also brings me to something that apparently Harris and Lobit never heard of.

..Never mention a BETTER movie in your SHITTY MOVIE! there a so much references to good movies in this one that when you hit the 1 hour mark you wished you we're watching one of those (the movies are: Fatal Attraction, The Shining, Halloween 4 and Seven) instead of this piece of crap and the ending.

...IS HORRIBLE! not the cavern horrible but it comes pretty damn close! when your done watching this you feel like you just watched Alyssa Lobit masturbate with 5 month old mayo and rotting fish it's just a disgusting, painful experience that I wish never to revisit! hopefully Danielle's Next time in the directing chair will be a much better view than this one.
