Review of Amistad (1997) by Michael F — 09 Apr 2009
It's not surprising that Spielberg directed this considering it follows the "family split apart/trying to reunite" theme that makes up almost his entire filmography. Intriguing, powerful film features the electrifying acting debut of Djimon Hounsou.
Minor liability is weak, non-climactic final 30 minutes that is not nearly as emotionally satisfying as it should be.
