Review of Amistad (1997) by Randall S — 07 Jul 2012
A solid Spielberg film that tells the true story about a group of slaves on trial for rebelling on their slave ship. Djimon Hounsou is great as the leader of the slave group, but it is Anthony Hopkins who steals the show, especially in the final 30 minutes, playing an aging, but wise former president. If there is a story about people wanting freedom that needs to be told, Spielberg is the person to do so.
Grade: A-.
