Review of America's Sweethearts (2001) by Stefano L — 12 Oct 2011
Had a bit more bite than your typical rom/com, and I liked that, but I felt that at least a couple of the characters were so sterotypical and over the type as to be parodies, and that ruined the believability factor for me.
could have used a bit more backstory/history between cusack and roberts too to explain their love for each other. the best part of the whole thing was its undeniable dig at the movie industry and the often AWFUL product that they promote and idolize.
was it just me or did zeta-jones and cusack purposefully act as terribly and overblown as they could in the scenes taken from the star couple's films? I think they did, and it worked. walken's director blowing the lid off the whole thing, showing that the behind the scenes shenanigans were much more interesting than the big budget piece of crap movie he was SUPPOSED to make was really cool and so true.
