Review of America's Sweethearts (2001) by Johnathon E — 06 Aug 2008
America?s Sweethearts was a somewhat funny comedy, but unfortunately predictable. The all star cast was not enough to overcome a weakly written script. The bone structure was very weak although the bulk contained some good one liners and great situational comedy.
The acting was good and it seemed like everyone was just being themselves or having fun with the part they played. The chemistry on screen was very good and appeared that it would have been a fun film to be on set.
The direction was average but it was able to scrape together enough laughs out of a very poor script to make this an average romantic comedy. The fact that it is a normal, predictable romantic comedy makes it one that would be a renter at best.
