Review of American Ultra (2015) by Giselle R — 20 Aug 2015
American Ultra is...interesting. The blend of genres and tonal shifts may be too jarring for some, but it is entertaining. Some of the film seems off, for example Topher Grace's manic immature character doesn't really fit, and neither does John Leguizamo's drug dealer.
Walton Goggins is easily the best part of the movie, and his scene with Eisenberg at the end. There's plenty of style and flair, but the movie doesn't do anything too new except riff on the action genre a little bit, and maybe not enough.
