Review of American Ultra (2015) by 5929 — 05 Sep 2015

"American Ultra" is hugely enjoyable in unexpected ways. It reminded me of "The Interview" - both films have ideas, but refuse to take them too seriously and communicate them better as a result.

Accordingly, in between its fast and fun moments of well-staged action and stoner pastiche, "American Ultra" manages to work in genuinely touching moments, largely thanks to the chemistry between Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg who are tender and convincing as a couple in love and backed up by a strong supporting cast of indie acting greats.

This is one of the few films I've seen this year that I would love to see a sequel to.
