Review of American Ultra (2015) by Djechoes — 20 Aug 2015
A film that very much feels like a homage to 1970's exploitation films, American Ultra is a bizarre and fun movie. It nails that "Last House on the Left" or "The Crazies" mismatch in tone and pacing, and while that may be offputting to conventionally-minded viewers, I really enjoyed it.
A pretty somber mood and story is hilariously peppered by bursts of violence, gore, and jokes. The last 25 minutes is just badass awesomeness. It might not be for everyone, but it was certainly for me.
