The whole time, you're cringing at the pettiness and ridiculousness of these kids, every kid's choice to do the exact opposite of what they need to be happy, and at the fact that they seem to think that things that happen in high school matter one ounce in the rest of their lives.
Luckily, during the credits, it seems like they've kinda realized as much.
