Review of American Teen (2008) by Ryan O — 24 Dec 2008
Despite its flaws, American Teen is an authentic look at the lives of five teenagers in a midwest town. If you're yearning to go back and revisit your high school days - the awkwardness of teenage love, the excitement of the formal dance and the everyday stresses of pleasing people, getting good grades and managing your friendships, you'll be surprsed to see how well American Teen gets the job done.
On the flip side, however, some choppy editing, and sometimes, seemingly all too "scripted" conversations manages to drag this documentary down.
Overall, this is a good documentary thats worth a watch. Check it out - you may find yourself relating to the trials and tribulations of some of these students.
Its ok. not great, not bad. but worth the one hour and 40 minute run time.
