Review of American Teen (2008) by Andy S — 25 Jan 2009
Laguna beach meets basketball diaries. very enjoyable. Best soundtrack in a long while.Every song was well picked and well placed. Being that the movie is based in Indiana, and fully captures the suffocating pressures teens feel growing up in the Midwest, songs like "train" by Nyles Lannon and Patricks Watson's "the great escape" are eerily fitting.
Also on the soundtrack are two bands I'm glad to see getting some long overdue exposure, the black kids and ryan lindsey although the ting tings and mgmt with there own recent success' are the most noticeable.
I rarely find myself attached to characters in movies or documentaries but found myself attached to both hannah and collin, so much that the ending credits left me just wanting to continue being a part of there lives.
