Review of American Teen (2008) by Jacob R — 17 Feb 2009
As someone who has professionally ---.
*cough* tried to make*cough*---documentaries, I find a lot of the production aspects of this film dubious. Not 'Hills' level dubious, mind you...but its pretty obvious there was a lot of magic going on in the editing room. Still, it manages to accomplish what it seeks out to: provide an entertaining reminder that, yup-High School sucks- (BTW, by labeling the stars of the movie as jock/geek/etc aren't they guilty of perpetuating/exploiting the HS caste system?). The film also succeeds in offering a character to genuinely root for in Hannah Bailey. If there's a reason to see the film, she's it.
