Review of American Teen (2008) by William B — 08 May 2009
I kind of wish they'd stop making these. I really thought it was something else when I got it. I was ready for another American Pie-ish movie. This, however, is a documentary-type movie about a bunch of kids in high school. It's about their life and day to day events. It's kind of boring most of the time. As for if it's true or not. I doubt it. There are a few reasons in which people swear this is fake/scripted/The-Hills-ish. Such as seeing the scoreboard after the game. I personally think it at least partially scripted. There's just too many cameras everywhere. They'd have to film filler scenes. Also people wouldn't do some of that stuff in front of a camera. But that being said, it just means that this movie is a lot better. If you can't tell that they're acting, that must mean that the acting is pretty solid. Also, the animation (not the cartoon ones) was REALLY incredibly good. Other than that, like I said, I bit dull at times. Not horrible, though. It's worth checking out if you're bored. And it was a bit refreshing to see some not beautiful pimply faced normals. Other than the model-y actors from hollywood.
*SPOILERS* I did like the whole sending the nude pic thing. I want the world to realize that if you send someone a picture of you naked, they WILL show someone else. ALWAYS. You should not ever send nude pics unless you are a total voyeur and don't care if the world sees you naked. If this is the case, true that. Go for it! The world can only be improved by it.
