Review of American Teen (2008) by Ryan C — 30 Aug 2008
A documentary that follows five students in their senior year in a small Indiana town has its moments, but overall isn't any more groundbreaking and impressive as a decent episode of True Life or Made on MTV.
First off is it really a documentary, because I'm not buying it all, it's hard not to imagine the director at times egging on the teenagers to say this or "let's have you ponder about your life as you look out across the lake.
" I was also disappointed to find that a relationship between the popular jock and the not so popular rebel turned out to be, or seemed to be, just an idea to get little school girls like me to see the film.
But what the hell, I guess I was entertained enough by the personalities and the teenage high school drama that I remember so well.
