Review of American Splendor (2003) by Stephen C — 14 Dec 2007
I had high hopes for this movie from being a big fan of Ghost World. I have to say it disappointed me. The acting was great on Paul Giamattiâ??s part, no question about that, it was just the material that I didnâ??t like.
Granted Iâ??ve never read the comic, or basically didnâ??t know it existed until I heard of this movie, but I didnâ??t realize it was about another down-on-his-luck white man thatâ??s angry at the world.
Still the directing and cinematography was great, and I really liked that they incorporated the real Harvey Pekar and crew into the movie. Like I said, I just didnâ??t like the story, but thatâ??s not a reason for any of you fine readers not to check it out.
