Review of American Splendor (2003) by Luke W — 06 Jun 2008
Of all the recent comic-book adaptations, this is obviously the most human, and the most adventurous. Mixing actors alongside the people they play on-screen, along with the characters they've created, makes for an intriguing watch.
The film focuses mostly on Harvey and Joyce themselves, putting the myriad side characters that populate the books on the back-burners, but it works out pretty well that way.
