Review of American Splendor (2003) by Butch H — 08 Sep 2008
This is a biographical film about Harvey Pekar, a comic book writer who turns his depressing and cynical thoughts into something useful and uses his daily life events to write comical situations. Harvey and the other people in his life especially Crumb and Joyce are very eccentric, interesting and likable people.
Paul Giamatti doesn't do an outstanding performance but at least a convincing one. Harvey, Joyce and their friend themselves appear in the film too, with some commentary of their own.
