Review of American Splendor (2003) by Alex K — 21 Jan 2010
A really great biopic. Having the actual Harvey Pekar star and narrate was really cool, it made for a lot of really neat transitions. It's not often that even biopics let the audience know every once in awhile that 'you are watching a movie.'.
This film solidifies Paul Giamatti as one of the great character actors of our generation. Judah Friedlander and James Urbaniak are also both great in this, and it's a wonder why they aren't bigger than they are.
