Review of American Splendor (2003) by Ian L — 31 May 2011
Rather lost on me as I am not familiar with the subject - Harvey Pekar and American Splendor - but still interesting for its treatment, combining the real people portrayed and the actors portraying them.
I came away thinking the real Harvey might just about be preferable to Paul Giamatti's version, although the point is not to make the character likeable or even explain him, it seems rather that the intention was just to show how Harvey maintained his (mildly disfunctional) life and minor clerical work with fame as a comic strip writer and national TV appearances.
Original.
