Review of American Splendor (2003) by Anna B — 05 May 2012
"SURE I'LL LOSE THE WAR BUT THE POINT IS TO WIN A FEW SKIRMISHES ALONG THE WAY" - that line really captures the nature of the character and the tone of the film. Interesting narrative style and, for an film based on a true story, they have really captured the character quite well since they keep alternating between the real Harvey and the actor (Paul Giamatti) playing him.
The character reminded me of a more depressed Kramer (from Frasier). The way the film was made reminded me the film "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers". I guess that's a good thing since I like both Kramer and the film "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers".
A good watch - even funnier when you know people like the characters in the film.
