Review of American Soldiers (2005) by David G — 20 Mar 2008
Arguably the most unrealistic war movie I've ever seen, and the fact that it is set during the current conflict in Iraq makes it even more silly. So this is like a typical day in Iraq for US troops is it? Endless RPG attacks, leave-no-man-behind brotherly comradery, flag-waving chest-pumping patriotism and insane hand-to-hand knife melees? Dang they've got it pretty bad.
To be honest this is an entertaining action flick, but since it is set during a war which is still ongoing today, I feel dirty for taking enjoyment from the gun-ho firefights. If there's a message hidden amongst all the explosions, it got lost in the shrapnel.
