Review of American Sniper (2014) by Theoffice — 08 Feb 2015
Honestly was not impressed. As a war movie it is too boring with little suspense or good action sequences. As a movie about a soldier's internal struggles it falls a little flat as that doesn't seem to be the main focus.
And therein lies my main issue.... the movie tries to do too many things. It tries to be all "Go America!" and at the same time tell about the plight of soldiers going through PTSD, an all to real under-treated issue.
You can't do both in a film, or at least Clint Eastwood can't. Ultimately I was unimpressed and a little bored. Yeah it gets sad at the end because we all know what happens and the guy, in real life, seemed like a genuinely good person but the movie really is not that entertaining.
