Review of American Sniper (2014) by Aman A — 17 Jun 2015
Clint Eastwood is a master that is consistent. He roles out a great film after another albeit in the same genre. We can't help but relate and accept Chris Kyle. The movie has a good amount of tension (maybe not hurt locker like but enough) but more importantly, it makes war real.
That is something most movies try to do but this one, takes the war to the streets. I felt the city in this movie. I felt how it is to be in a war zone and in a city with civilians and yet waging a war.
Powerful and traumatic, this movie is for the ages and I am surprised by a fairly low RT rating relatively. I even appreciate the one sided nature of the conflict displayed and reasoned by Clint. There are no justifications for Al Qaeda and Clint doesn't decide to humour us with any.
War is war, and what is right is not to be argued. Eye for an eye or rather, they kill us and we need to kill them to protect us. Simple philosophy. Oh, Bradley was a class act. I am surprised to see Keaton take the award after such a performance.
The voice, the reality in thought and perfect timing was spectacular. The best part of the acting was that I felt his emotions in his eyes. His eyes were acting and that is fantastic to pull off for any actor.
