Review of American Sniper (2014) by Steve C — 19 Jul 2015
This is Eastwood's best film in awhile - energetically directed, edited, and paced. His films can have a slow burn bordering on tedium depending on the subject matter, but I found this one gripping.
Horrible to watch at times, I think that is because of the tenseness in the subject matter. Bradley Cooper gives his best performance - he almost disappears in the role. Quite a feat. Major props to all our servicemen and women for doing this kind of work, and shame on us that it is not more at the forefront of our society's mind.
