Review of American Sniper (2014) by Krishil K — 09 Nov 2015

"American Sniper," directed by the famous Clint Eastwood, is about real life U.S Navy Seal Chris Kyle and how he is affected by the war in Iraq. Acted by Bradley Cooper, Chris becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history after he takes protecting his comrades to heart. Despite all of the dangers of the war and the rising death totals, Chris willingly serves four tours which severely affects his life back in the states. His consecutive tours causes him to struggle in being a good husband and father to his family. He later fids out the hard way that he cannot leave the war behind after finally returning home for good.

"American Sniper" is a good movie to watch and especially if you are interested by war-like stories. Since it is directed by Clint Eastwood, the quality of the movie is great and it is supported of great acting. The high quality look of the movie, brings out the realistic qualities of the story. Copper manages to show how Kyle is affected by his service by showing emotions such as anger and frustration and he is supported by a reliable cast of actors. Overall the cast does a great job acting out their roles to the best of their abilities.

Even with many other great reviews, this movie in my opinion is a little too predictable. Nothing out of the ordinary happens to put this film over the top of other war movies. The same aspects of the "good-guy winning or everything going the "good guy's way" is prevalent all throughout the movie. Kyle never misses and when confronted with a situation, he always gets the kill or the shot needed to save the day. Yes, this proves how amazing of a sniper Kyle really was, but at the same time it really takes the suspense out of the movie. Overall, this is a good movie to watch to pass your time despite this one flaw. It covers a very controversial issue that occurred in American history and brings up the side effects of war. I would rate this movie a 7.5 out of 10.
