Review of American Reunion (2012) by Laura C — 27 Sep 2012
American Reunion comedy film written and directed by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. This is the 4th installment in the series (American Pie). Released 13 years since the original came out in 1999 to thunder applause. Starring Jason Biggs as Jim, Chris Klein as Chris 'Oz', Thomas Ian Nicholas as Kevin, Seann William Scott as Steve 'Stifler', Eddie Kaye Thomas as Finch, John Cho as John, and Eugene Levy as Jim's Dad.
I can understand some people rushing in to criticize this film, obviously because it does not fall to their expectations. But believe me, had they seen first film (American Pie) the time it was released, their views about this movie could have been pretty much different. I watched American Pie the time it was released, and at that time the name of film was on everybody's tongue. Jim, Jim's 'the Dad', Stifler were household names. It's been years since I last watched that movie, probably 5 years by now. This movie threw me back in late 90's the time, I first watched American Pie. It is nostalgic in every-way.
I would never care about coincidence of characters bumping into each other everywhere (no I would less care about that) because this movie was all about re-creating the memories of olden period of ending-20th-century. Stylish hilarious scenes (unlike those you have been used to teen-comedy movies nowadays). I am greatly thankful to Stifler (Seann William Scott) and Jim (Jason Biggs) for providing me with great guffaws and memorable moments of good old late 90s.
This must be nostalgic experience for those (like me) who are great fan of the first two movies.
