Review of American Reunion (2012) by Ana B — 22 Oct 2012

Last instalment of this popular comedy. If you remember it all started with a group of teenagers desperately trying to loose their virginity. As young adults their adventures went on for two or three more movies. In the most recent instalment we get to see the reunion 13 years after they left high school, we witness their struggles and victories, we notice their evolution: those teenagers became adults with jobs, mortgages and marriages. It is a bit scary to see how much life changes in 13 years from former mindless beings to men with heavy responsibilities. They all have plenty of problems and they surface in the weekend of the reunion.

The premise here is quite good we have young men and women with likely problems, dealing with them the best way they can. There are several funny moments, let's just say it is not my kind of humour as most of the jokes hit you below the belt. When the film got serious I got bored, these realistic issues they had at the beginning got sorted out in a very unrealistic way in the last 10 min. of the film. It is a pity, they deserved a better, meaningful outcome.
