Perhaps it's because Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (writers/directors of the three Harold & Kumar movies) came on board that American Reunion feels like a bit of a step up for the franchise.
Well, anything probably is after the direct to DVD sequels. It almost seems like American Reunion manages to return to its roots while also offering a little bit more in the emotional department. It could just be I related to the movie since I often feel like I'm running in place career-wise much like these characters and that all my friends seem to be moving on and having families while I don't, but that only adds to the fact that this is a really entertaining adult comedy.
American Reunion is downright hysterical at times and unexpectedly reflective at others.
