American Pie: The Reunion's main problem can be reflected through it's characters: it failed to make a transition to more mature themes and ends up becoming a weak rehash of it's previous trilogy with few laughs and just general boredom.

American Pie: The Reunion features a few laughs, primarily from Sean William Scott and a surprisingly funny Eugene Levy, but it's script gives no justice to them or chances to provide the audience with a laugh. It doesn't have the charm of the teenage comedy from the first 3 American Pie, and rather attempts to adapt into the genre of more modern day comedy films and fails because it was a genre that was from the early 2000's period and failed to stay there.

It doesn't even feature a soundtrack like the ones that made the first 3 so defining if their time, but American Pie: The Reunion features the sh*tty modern music that I had hoped American Pie: The Reunion would make me forget about, but with crappy music and even utterance of the name 'Justin Bieber' once in the script is horrible and reminds the audience of what is wrong with society when they're watching American Pie: The Reunion to get away from it.

American Pie: The Reunion also fails to take advantage of the large returning cast and brushes them aside into brief and meaningless cameos.

So American Pie: The Reunion may provide nostalgia for audiences who spent 9 years waiting for a new sequel, but for other audiences it's just flat out disappointing.
