Review of American Psycho (2000) by Mark E — 14 Aug 2015
Well, I have to say, this movie was far less disturbing than the book was. I was far more disturbed by the violence of the book, I think Bateman's insanity was more obvious in the book. The movie was enjoyable, it definitely caught the spirit of the book, but I was expecting more because I read the book first.
I can say that I enjoy the way women were treated in the movie better than in the book. Because of the nature of film, they weren't as interchangeable. But more than that, they were given more agency, they made more choices.
I liked the movie. It was chilling. It just didn't add up to what I expected.
