Review of American Psycho (2000) by Mike A — 17 Jan 2013
A cinematically beautiful film about a pretentious Wall Street businessman who cares little about anything other than outward appearance and homicide. The narration done by Mr. Bale is perfectly timed with symbols in the movie, giving it a much deeper meaning than just a crazy man with an axe.
Bale's performance in the film is easily the highlight of the hour and forty minutes spent watching, seeing as how he gives creepy and, at times, unsettling depth to the character of Patrick Bateman.
The story itself is very character driven and has much more to do with character development than it does with major events in the story. The ending will leave you with questions, however. Did it happen? Did it not? Is Patrick Bateman real? Is he schizophrenic? All in all, a phenomenal film that should not be missed.
