Review of American Psycho (2000) by Luke G — 13 Nov 2012
The film is utterly horrifying. Christian Bale delivers an Oscar-Worthy performance as Patrick Bateman, a raping, murderous, psychotic, and utterly terrifying serial killer of women, and whomever stands in his way.
We see Patrick as a very logical, well-educated, and successful Wall Street businessman at the exposition of the film, and we begin to see his mental breakdown immediately. Bale captures the sane and insane parts of Patrick expertly.
Unfortunately, the film drags on at multiple points, when it could have easily been cut 10 to 15 minutes. However, when the film needed to be strong, it was very powerful. Overall, the horrific story still terrified me, and it is guaranteed to scare anyone who has any human emotions whatsoever.
