Review of American Psycho (2000) by Robin C — 22 Jun 2013
Same as the book by Brett Easton Ellis, the film makes the simple statement that uber success in metropolitan living can bring hollowness rather than fulfillment. Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) fills the void with sadistic violence.
It's a shame that the film doesn't delve deeper and doesn't introduce any inventive artistic techniques to bring out the emotion and torment of Bateman's acts that are too horrible to show.
