A darkly comic film that can make a butt naked Christian Bale chasing a prostitute down a hallway with a chainsaw both scary and hilarious (no homo). The movie follows Patrick Bateman, a wealthy yuppie, as he slowly descends into a state of insanity.

The thing about him is that, while he keeps maintains a thin veil of composure on the oustide, he has an incredible lust for blood, cannablism, and dismemberment. We see Patrick lose it more and more through the movie, and it's hilarious.

He feels the need to be better and more ostentatious than all of his colleagues, to the point where he murders one of them because he has a better business card than he does. He feels the need to murder all of those he considers beneath him (prostitutes, homeless people, etc.

). However, the thing that makes this movie work is Bale's dedicated performance and Mary Harron's sharp direction. A perfect mix of dark humor, violent imagery, and witty dialogue. Because of his insanity, the events of the movie are left to the viewer to determine whether they happened or not, but if there's one thing that's a fact, when you're in a room and you're about to have a threesome with 2 hookers, "Don't stare at it, eat it.

".
